The Planning and Information Office is part of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, and coordinates the University’s planning and accountability activities, as well as liaising with the Tertiary Education Commission and Ministry of Education. It provides oversight of the University’s reporting strategy and decision support information, and provides analysis and information that supports the University’s strategic and tactical decision-making and academic quality assurance.

**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

Utilise your analysis and advanced data visualisation skills, to bring data to life for Faculty and Student Services leaders.

Reporting into the Planning & Information Office, you will be able to bridge the gap between an in-depth understanding of the information needed and our solution specialists supporting the design, development and operations of vital Business Intelligence and IT systems.

The Faculty/Student Services Insights Analyst roles are focused on the strategic, tactical and operational information needs of the University. The roles will meet the information needs of senior Faculty and Student Services staff, and their stakeholders, through understanding, enhancing, and drawing actionable insights from related information available in the University’s Data and Analytics platform.

Please note there are multiple Insights Analyst roles available across Faculties and Student Services.

This is a fulltime fixed term position. We offer a salary range of $78000 - 80000 depending on your experience.

**Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team**

The Planning and Information Office (PIO) is the unit within the University that leads and coordinates strategic and operational planning for the University. This is achieved by providing a range of information, support and advice, including the provision of strategic, tactical and operational information; monitoring and assessing the institution’s performance; coordinating the planning process and developing; data science, data governance and maintaining the University’s repositories of business information.

This is an excellent opportunity to make your mark on a new team by both shaping and enhancing the delivery of mana-enhancing services within select faculties.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

Comfortable working independently as well as partnering with a variety of stakeholders at both strategic and operational levels, you will be adept at tailoring your analysis and reporting to provide optimal value for the respective audiences. You will need to provide analyst services supporting accessibility and interpretation for critical information needs across a range of stakeholders, including supporting senior leaders.

You will excel at combining your critical thinking and analytical capability with contextual knowledge of business processes and systems, in order to derive insights and communicate the story within the data. You will be a champion of continuous improvement and a team player, contributing to the evolution of the network of analysts and information specialists into a thriving and supportive community of practise.

- Excellence in working with stakeholders to understand business context and provide interpretation of reporting in the form of actionable insights
- Demonstrated experience utilising analytics and reporting methodologies to identify and communicate areas of concern or improvements opportunities to diverse stakeholders
- Ability to bridge the gap between solution experts like technology-centred Business Intelligence teams or Data Science teams and the key stakeholders whose information needs are critical to value generation
- Excellence in data visualisation using business intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy, PowerBI or similar
