**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

Our Family Safety Team based at Hillmorton Hospital co-ordinates and guides Specialist Mental Health's response to family violence and child protection issues, fostering consistent practise throughout our Specialist Mental Health Service to promote early intervention, safety in families, and close working relationships with relevant stakeholders.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse or Social Worker who will add value, expertise and energy to this stable and cohesive team. Our motivated and dedicated team provide support to Specialist Mental Health staff, where it is also essential that you are able to work autonomously and with a degree of flexibility.

In addition to daily cross
- sectoral Safety Assessment Meetings, your other key tasks will include providing consultation and advice to staff in order to build Specialist Mental Health Service capability and confidence in identifying and responding to family safety issues.

Previous experience in mental health, with an appropriate health professional qualification and registration (with mental health scope) is required.

This is a 0.4 FTE permanent position.

This service operates 7 days per week so the ability to work weekends is important.

**Pehea | About You**

In this role, you will be responsible for:

- Coordination of the Specialist Mental Health Family Safety Programme through providing consultation and advise to staff, attending and facilitating meetings, delivering staff training and undertaking reporting and auditing of the programme;
- Maintaining databases to ensure accurate documentation of family safety work;
- Working closely and collaboratively with Oranga Tamariki, NZ Police, Corrections and Non-Government Agencies;
- The development and delivering of training plans for staff;
- Participating in service development and quality assurance initiatives/processes;
- Ensuring the provision of a professional and culturally safe service.

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and nurture relationships with external agencies;
- Effective facilitation skills;
- Sound computer skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly;
- Experience as a mental health clinician is essential (2+ years);
- Relevant care and protection or family violence experience is essential;
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate and Registration with the respective NZ registration board
