In this role you will be leading a team of six who provide technical and compliance services to the payroll team who provide payroll services to 3000 staff on our fortnightly pay run, in a highly complex payroll environment. The technical team support the technical side of processing BAU payroll, while also delivering system and process improvements and project work.
The world of payroll is ever changing, our technical services support a significant amount of this change so it is key to have a manager who can lead this team to support Te Whatu Ora with this change. Some of your team will work onsite and some will work remotely, so your ability to bring this team together and provide excellent service will be key.
With multiple collective and individual employment agreements, a geographical spread across the top of the south island and a fully integrated end to end payroll system, a key function of this role is to provide strong leadership, guidance and advice to the team to achieve excellence in service delivery.
You will provide expert guidance and advice to internal stakeholders across our organisation in all matters relating to system functionality.

We are looking for someone with proven experience to lead and develop a team that have multiple project workstreams on at any one time.
We are looking for someone who is a competent communicator with exceptional analytical and leadership skills with the ability to deliver, interpret and record both routine and highly complex communications.
While an extensive knowledge in payroll related legislation and current best practice processes would be advantageous, of more importance will be your demonstrated ability to develop and lead a remote team in a complete and high demand service. You will have a solid project management foundation and strong personal leadership skills to promote focus and drive within the team.
You will demonstrate an ability to effectively relate to a wide variety of people across the organisation, and your ability to liaise directly with external agencies and organisations, is a must.
