Due to an internal promotion,** Babcock New Zealand **are looking for an **Assistant Production Manager **to help lead our Fabrication team based on the** Devonport Naval Base.**

**About the role**

Reporting to the Production Manager (Constructive) you will be responsible for planning and delivering safely, the production activities to meet the customer’s demand to schedule, budget & quality.

You will assist in the management of the team’s development in line with business objectives and will be an integral part of ensuring our fabrication department meets its targets.

**Key responsibilities**
- Responsible for the effective and safe delivery of production activities in line with company procedures.
- Proactively manage subcontractors to allow the required capability and capacity to be delivered.
- Plan production activities to enable delivery in line with the project plan.
- Provide consistent production reporting and risk management across the Delivery Programme.
- Manage individual performance across the team.
- Promote and encourage professional development within the team.
- Set and deliver team objectives in line with the company’s direction.
- Identify, develop and lead improvement opportunities
- Improve and maintain customer satisfaction with all customers and stakeholders.

**About you**

**You will be responsible for the management of a large team of Fabricators, Welders and Boilermakers so a Heavy Fabrication Qualification is essential.**

Coming from a similar industry, you will bring a wealth of knowledge around best practice, HSEQ and team leadership.

**Required skills & competencies**
- Relevant Trade or Engineering qualification
- Experience in Marine or Industrial projects will be highly regarded
- Proven track record of being involved in delivering in a production line or industrial workshop environment.
- Experience of managing budgets and schedules.
- Managing production teams across a range of trade and technical groups.
