**The Opportunity**:
A vacancy exists for a Research and Development Associate to join Arotec’s established R&D team for a 12-month contract. Reporting to the R&D and Process Improvement Manager this person will support the Research and Development and Product Improvement department in their developing of new products and in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the site’s production processes. As the incumbent in this practical and hands-on role, you will undertake protein extraction and purification work, as well as working with chromatography systems and various biochemistry techniques including SDS-PAGE, ELISA and Gel Electrophoresis.

To be considered must possess the following attributes:

- Experience working in research and production laboratory settings
- Protein chemistry experience ideally in a commercial production environment
- Protein purification utilising a broad number of chromatographic techniques
- Protein assay techniques including SDS-PAGE, Western blot, immunoblotting, protein gel electrophoresis, dot blot, Native gel, ELISA are desirable but not essential
- The ability to develop and execute methods in AKTA systems
- Experience in routine laboratory maintenance, maintenance of laboratory safety standards and knowledge of Quality System Reports
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work individually in a timely manner and within a team environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
