Provide sound technical advice on the full life cycle of maritime surface equipment for Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) with New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF). We deal with anything above the water (AKA Maritime Surface); this could be anything from small boats to life jackets and life rafts (anything that floats, minus the big ships).

**A typical day may include**:

- Leading, developing and coordinating the delivery of technical plans, user requirements, testing, evaluation, reporting, data and documentation;
- Providing effective technical advice, answers and presentations to Fleet users and stakeholders;
- Investigating and solving problems and troubleshooting faults, and coordinating disposal of equipment;
- Getting hands on with equipment and stake holders, including equipment trials and evaluations; and
- Contributing to Fleet and wider DEMO projects as required.

**Please Note**: The formal title for this role within NZDF is Technical Advisor Maritime Surface.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience
You will be a great communicator with the ability to build robust relationships with key stakeholders across all levels of the organisation. Not afraid to seek out any information not provided, you will have a knack for problem solving skills, a love for maritime and the drive to get hands on with equipment to work through to innovative solutions.

**Ideally, you will also have**:

- Experience in a technical or engineering role, ideally with a maritime setting;
- Understanding of maritime legislation and maritime safety requirements (advantageous);
- Previous exposure to military terminology and/or logistics (desirable);
- Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical information to non-technical audiences;
- An understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and asset management; and
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and SAP.

**Please note**: The successful applicant must have a clean, full NZ Driver's license, with the ability to travel domestically as required.
