Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders.
Whaktutukitanga ā-Whakahaere | Organisational Capability and Performance group enables the Commission to deliver and perform at its best. The group provides a range of corporate services including people, information technology, finance, planning and reporting, risk and assurance, workplace and administration.
The Principal Advisor, Finance is a new role in the Commission created to deputise and support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The role operates as a second-in-command and will provide leadership and strategic advice on all portfolios the CFO is responsible for. This includes:
- providing strategic advice to members of Te Mana Arataki | Executive Leadership Team, delivering value for money through the efficient and effective use of the Commission's resources, and ensuring robust processes and systems are in place for managing the Commission's finances on a sustainable basis
- ensuring the Commission meets its statutory reporting and accountability requirements such as estimates, baseline updates, and the annual report
- delivering a high-quality procurement function through the development of guidance, policies, and tools to support the Commission in its procurement activities
- working with the Commission to manage its emissions reduction plan, enact carbon neutral projects to reduce emissions, and report on emissions to our stakeholders
You will be qualified as a Chartered Accountant (or equivalent professional qualification) with several years' experience in the public sector.
We are seeking a high performing person who has the experience in owning difficult projects and tasks from inception to completion, who understands the complexities of public sector accounting and can communicate clearly and succinctly, who has a wealth of financial skill and experience yet is willing and eager to learn new things.
