We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Allied Health Assistant to join our Older Persons’ Rehabilitation Team. This position provides support to both the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team.

**Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service**

The older persons’ rehabilitation team has both outpatient and inpatient opportunities to work across. These include the Orthopaedic rehab ward, comprehensive stroke unit, general rehab ward and outpatient clinics which include many classes. Allied Health Assistants rotate around all areas of the service to gain specialist skills in rehabilitation. Some areas may include weekend shift work.

**The work involves tasks such as**:

- Supervising patients to go through their exercise programme as prescribed by a qualified Physiotherapist/Occupational therapist
- Helping patients to regain their independence with activities of daily living following medical illness/surgery
- Assisting the qualified staff to run exercise groups or breakfast/lunch groups
- Cleaning, issuing, restocking/ordering of equipment such as walking aids and exercise equipment
- Perform basic administrative tasks

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

- A positive and flexible attitude
- An ability to work as part of a team
- Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent time management skills and an ability to flex and adapt depending on work demands
- An awareness of other cultures
- A current full NZ drivers licence
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting would be beneficial
