**About the Role**

Canterbury Health Laboratories is the largest medical laboratory in the South Island which is also a major secondary/tertiary referral centre. We have a modern and well-equipped lab including a good range of specialist equipment. Our laboratory is open 24 hours a day, providing timely results to our clinicians to ensure our patients are getting the right treatment, at the right time.

**In this role, you will be responsible for**:

- This is a dedicated role to Team 3 - Respiratory, Mycology and Specimen Reception. The Scientist will work closely with the Team 3 Technical Lead and Reception Supervisors providing technical expertise and to lead projects to improve quality and streamline processing in Reception
- Use laboratory information systems to register patients, input data, and access results
- Maintain you own professional development
- Providing a high-quality service to clients
- Problem solving within the team
- Result interpretation
- Reporting results

**About you**

**Skills and experience**

Your skills will include:

- Registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council, with a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Must have 4 years experience or more in BacteriologyInterpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Prioritisation skills
