As Customer Liaison Manager - Transport, you’ll work in our transport team to respond to some of the more complex questions and issues that residents raise, either via service requests or elected officials, concerning transport and liaise with the interested parties and technical service providers to obtain answers and solutions.

If you’re community-minded, you’ll enjoy plenty about this role. With your finger on the community pulse, including keeping up-to-date with social media, you’ll be able to anticipate challenges as well as deal directly with them. You’ll also put your investigative streak to good use when it comes to finding information for the public.

As you can imagine, you’ll need to be an excellent communicator and genuinely enjoy working with people. Along with your diplomacy and relationship-building skills, you’ll need to be confident and able to deal with conflict and frustration in a positive, constructive way. As long as you can bring these skills, and have senior-level experience in handling customers, you could come from any background.

Though you don’t require a great deal of technical transport knowledge, you will need to be able to talk to technical people and be able to understand and explain what they tell you. Preferably you’ll have experience with regulations, or know where to get advice, and you’ll have the ability to understand transport legislation.

For someone with an interest in local politics and who likes problem-solving and people, you’ll find this a satisfying challenge. It’s an opportunity for you to build on your customer service and public relations skills, and make sure that our customers come away satisfied with their contact with their council.
