**Ko te tūranga mahi | About the role**

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Head of IT Operations plays a key, hands-on role in leading the day-to-day IT Operations function, which covers all aspects from ensuring the availability, reliability and security of systems and networks (including Cloud Services) to manging technology vendors.

As Head of IT Operations, you will coach and develop a team of five with three direct reports, enabling them to deliver high quality outcomes for internal customers, and foster a learning culture.

**Drawing on your toolkit of skills and experience here is what you will be doing**:

- Overseeing the management of IT incidents to resolution, co-ordinating all resolving parties and proactively communicating with stakeholders.
- Managing a customer focussed service desk and technical team, ensuring alignment to IT operational SLA's
- Allocation of technical resource time into projects and change initiatives.
- Champion support and service delivery needs in projects and develop a strong understanding of work affecting your area, ensuring service impact is minimised and agreed.
- Supplier relationship management overseeing SLAs to ensure optimal performance.
- Liaising with the Information Security team, to implement and operationalise security controls,
- Engaging in all aspects of people management within the Operations team, including recruitment and performance reviews

**Ko wai koe | About you**

A natural people's person with strong communication skills, balanced with strong IT Operations management experience that allows you to build relationships internally and externally with ease. We will value your innate ability to take ownership of communication of operational activities, and engaging leadership style.

**Ideally you will have**:

- 5 years' experience in an IT Operational environment, including at least two years in a team lead or operations management role.
- Proven ability to manage operational functions, incident management and response.
- Good understanding of the secure software development lifecycle
- Solid understanding of Azure services (or similar) and best practices, such as Azure Active Directory, Azure DevOps, Azure Backup
- Experience in managing relationships with suppliers, SLAs, invoicing and operational budgets.
- Desirable is an applied understanding of ITIL and associated IT good practice, and knowledge of CISSP
