Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
As an Internal Auditor, every day is a new and exciting challenge. With the opportunity to delve into all aspects of the Ministry and collaborate with a wide range of people, this role is perfect for those who have a curious mindset and enjoy discovering the workings of an organisation.
You will work closely with an Assurance Principal or Senior Internal Auditor to gain an understanding of the business activity, audit objectives, and work directly with a range of key personnel. Your work includes carrying out fieldwork, analysing data and evidence, making judgements on the adequacy of process and controls, and formulating relevant improvement recommendations.

Mōhou ake | About you
We are looking for a motivated, forward-thinking, and relationship-savvy person who can:

- Understand context and discern relevant information quickly
- Identify and describe problems/issues clearly
- Use a methodical approach to their work
- Be agile and flexible in delivering planned and unplanned engagements
- Effectively communicate with people

You do not need to have internal audit experience or hold a degree in finance or accounting. But you will need to have a relatable tertiary qualification or previous experience in an advisory or assurance role. We will do the rest to equip you with the job know-how and professional development, as required.
Mātau rōpū ake | About our ministry, group, and team
At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau. To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.

The Ministry's multi-award-winning Internal Audit and Assurance team is strongly focused on making a positive difference to the achievement of priority outcomes. Our primary purpose is to provide Te Pou Tokomanawa | Leadership Team with relevant assurance and improvement advice for the Ministry's operations and initiatives. Auditing for great outcomes, and not just for compliance, is what we are about.
