- Lead a proactive workplace wellbeing strategy to maximise psychological health and safety and reduce psychosocial hazards for our employees

About MSD Health, Safety, Security and Wellbeing (HSSW) team
The Health, Safety, Security and Wellbeing (HSSW) team is a unit within the Organisational Assurance and Communications (OAC) business group. The team provides advice and support for the health, wellbeing, safety and security of our people, clients and visitors to our sites with an increasing focus on taking a proactive and preventative approach.
The health, safety, security and wellbeing of staff, clients and the public is a priority, and everyone at MSD is accountable for ensuring this.

With an increased focus on mentally healthy workplaces and the need to consider the potential psychosocial impacts of mahi on staff, we recognise the need for a specialised manager to bring their professional expertise and knowledge of health and wellbeing and how they intersect with work, alongside a strategic mindset to lead and translate a complex and challenging area of work into strategies and actions that can be implemented across the organisation, in a way that resonates with our people and supports the pace of change.

This is a newly established role and as the Manager Workplace Wellbeing, you will be leading the design, development and implementation of an MSD wide Wellbeing Strategy to identify and influence the management of psychosocial hazards and increase the psychological health and safety for our people that supports the Ministry deliver a high-quality service to clients.
You will be working across all teams and work streams within the HSSW Group to ensure the relevant linkages are made and to provide support, advice and build HSS and wellbeing capability and maturity within the team.
You will be accountable for the day-to-day management of two Senior Workplace Wellbeing Advisors and provide leadership and oversight for specified projects and work programme deliverables.

The role requires a strong ability to think critically about the growth and maturing in psychological health and safety awareness and capability across the Ministry, as well as the regular use of personal initiative, effective communication and listening skills, and the ability to influence others.
You will have demonstrated ability to navigate through ambiguity and be skilled in negotiating with senior leadership to reach agreements and meet challenging deadlines.
You will have a high degree of initiative, reliability, and self-sufficiency and be able to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience is essential and you will have in depth and expert knowledge of current legislation and international best practice relating to psychological health and safety.
With your leadership experience, you will be able to blend the strategic with the operational and work seamlessly across business units and all levels of management. You will have strong influencing skills and be able to quickly establish credibility and trust.
