**The role**
Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical management and delivery of high voltage substation works safely, positively, effectively and efficiently. You will also:
- Work with management to plan and agree on work/job objectives
- Scope a job effectively and identify environmental and other influencing factors
- Provide support for the estimating of works to ensure they are priced correctly
- Guide with interpreting technical drawings and specifications when required
- Perform competent audits and quality checks
- Articulate job methodologies and approach clearly and clarify to team on site
- Seek and explore alternative ideas/approaches to make cost savings and improvements

**Who we’re looking for**
To secure this role, you’ll hold a current practising licence along with strong knowledge of relevant Codes of Practice, Policies, Standards, Work Procedures, Legislative requirements and the relevant Parts of the Safe Manual - Electricity Industry (SE-MI)**_Must have:_**
- Proven technical experience in high voltage zone substations environment, SCADA, Protection relay configuration and testing
- Demonstrated experience in underground cable testing and cable IDs
- Proven experience carrying out Pre & Post Commissioning tests including testing and commissioning of Siemens and SEL relays
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and carrying out As-Builts on drawings

**_You will also have:_**
- Relevant trade qualification(s) as required (Diploma or NZCE (or equivalent) or
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in a similar environment required.
- Preferably High Voltage environment experience and ability to do HV switching on Distribution Network.
- Ability to work on battery banks, charger systems, multiple input protection systems, basic Scada Systems and interface, secondary cables, HV circuit breakers, power transformers, single input protection relays and test instruments (preferable but not essential).
- Ability to work on LV and HV cables, testing cables, locate faults on underground cables and associated cables. (Preferred but we shall provide training).
- Ability to attend to Zone Sub and Distribution Automation callouts to investigate and resolve faults.
- Carry out after hours standby duties on a planned roster.
- Ability to display initiative and willingness to be part of a team.
- Ability to adapt to change in tasks on a day due to interrupted fault responses.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with basic technology knowledge.
- Produce timely reports on jobs.
