About the role

With over 14,000 staff, Police provides its services 24 hours a day, every day.
Police is working towards prevention through partnerships, including with iwi and communities, other government sectors and business partners. A key focus is to deliver the police services New Zealanders expect and deserve.

The Strategic Communications team use a portfolio based system to support teams right across Police. This role will support those portfolio leads in tasked based activities and provide a huge range of opportunity for the holder to learn and develop their strategic communications skills across a wide range of disciplines in a fast paced and complex public sector organisation.

Whilst not essential to the role we would particularly welcome applicants who are able demonstrate competency in te reo and tikanga or can bring their own cultural lense to this role

Key Accountabilities
- Under the guidance of the Director Strategic Communication and/or a Principal Communications Advisor:

- Provide support to the Director Strategic Communications and other members of the Strategic Communications team
- Develop and implement aspects of communications plans and strategies with an emphasis on internal communications
- Ensure the development and maintenance of effective communications relationships (internally and externally).

- Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and win trust.

This role is set at Individual Contributor level, this means your key purpose is “to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business”.
