About the role
The LINK workgroup is responsible for maintaining communication capability of essential services across Police and for multiple partner agencies. LINK sits inside the ICT structure reporting to the Chief Information Officer.

**LINK is responsible for two programmes of work within Police**:

- Public Safety Network (PSN) programme - replacing Emergency Services radio communications networks with a modern, Digital Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and Priority Cellular Services in order to better support and deliver frontline services. The PSN will be the most significant advancement in public safety communications in New Zealand in decades. For Police this means access to better, more secure communications; access to modern equipment and networks; and work more effectively with other emergency services (FENZ, St John, Wellington Free Ambulance.
- Radio Network Assurance (RNA) programme - maintaining our existing radio networks (digital and analogue) around New Zealand ensuring continuity of communications services to our frontline and emergency partners. RNA will transition to PSN over the next several years.

Reporting to the Link Radio Manager, this position is responsible for working across both PSN and RNA Programmes. It will be working with the technical teams to provide additional radio engineering support expertise. The role will be working to understand Police’s current Radio Network and support structures, to assist with prioritising, scoping and estimating work/projects which are required to continue to maintain the current network, until such time Police is transitioned to the new radio network.

It will also be working across the new Public Safety Network technology and transition teams, to define and set up new operating support structures for LMR radio.

Working with a technical team of radio engineers, district service engineers and Programme team members, you will be supported by a strong team who is passionate about radio technology.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Take end to end ownership for Nationwide Radio, Backup Infrastructure support activities.
- Provide specialist knowledge and expert advice relating to Radio, and its usage, as required.
- Work to coordinate the relevant internal support services teams to fulfil business requirements as defined in the appropriate Service Level Agreements.
- Provide coordination / escalation across other teams such as development teams / vendor in conjunction with the Service Hub.
- Work with other ICTSC teams to ensure there is sufficient resource / capacity to meet agreed customer requirements cost effectively.

**Key skills and experience include**:

- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field e.g., Bachelor of Engineering in electrical, electronics and/or telecommunications or equivalent experience
- Industry certification in a relevant field e.g. Cisco CCNP, Check Point CCSE. IBM Cloud Storage, Spectrum Protect
- ITIL Operational Support Analysis certification preferred
- NZ Police ICT or Radio Engineering experience
- Good technical writing skills - Ability to write technical documents to ensure they are clearly articulated and well understood.
- Individually responsible and accountable - Be accountable for your performance and take responsibility for contribution and development.
