**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We have a very rare opportunity for a Teaching Technician to join our team in a 0.5 FTE permanent capacity. You will primarily be responsible for the technical equipment in the preclinical and clinical optometry teaching facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

- Maintaining the assigned equipment within the optometry preclinical facilities and UOA Optometry Clinic
- Assisting in preparation and setting up of the preclinical optometry student laboratories
- The acquisition of consumables and small equipment
- Maintaining Health and Safety standards as per University and legislative requirements

You will be working in a leading, world-class facility, with access to high-end instrumentation and software and your stakeholders will be the students, professional and academic staff and also members of the public coming into the clinic for an eye exam.

This is a part-time, 18.75 hours per week, on a permanent contract. The salary range for this role is $56,600 - $70,600 prorated, per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

The position would suit a motivated individual with a passion for working with students, high level of attention to details and collaborative approach to problem solving

To join our busy and experienced team you will have:

- Relevant qualification or experience in science, electrical or electronic engineering.
- Experience in maintaining clinical equipment.
- Tertiary qualification, a BS or BE or equivalent in a science or engineering discipline is desirable.
- Experience in optic industry, biomedical, healthcare, and/or tertiary environment is desirable but not essential.
