**The Role**:
As a key member of our team, you will ensure we have the right products at the right price to meet customer needs. Your responsibilities will include negotiating prices, managing inventory levels, and maintaining our high-quality standards. This full-time, permanent position is based at our Wellington branch in Upper Hutt and reports to the Purchasing and Inventory Manager.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Manage the purchasing process efficiently
- Optimise purchasing to maximize margins and foster strong supplier relationships
- Utilise current procurement and sourcing strategies
- Ensure timely and cost-effective stock arrivals
- Monitor product and vendor prices to propose the best buys
- Control spending and cultivate a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and lead times
- Assist the manager with decisions on product substitutions
- Manage the transfer of dead stock and total stock on hand within the sales team
- Locate missing stock in warehouse areas, including dry goods, chillers, and freezers
- Support the sales team with procurement requirements
You will bring proven experience in a procurement or purchasing role. A qualification in procurement, supply chain, or a related field is advantageous.
**Required Skills and Attributes**:
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Strong administrative abilities with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge and relevant experience in warehouse, inventory, or logistics
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems, SAGE, or Sales Force is beneficial
- Ability to work in a temperature-controlled environment and handle physical tasks
