**Executive Director - Iwi/Māori - Water Services Reform - Te Tari Taiwhenua**:
Ue te Hīnātore - Local Government Branch undertakes Te Tari Taiwhenua’s role as steward of the local government system, and brings together local government expertise and specialist policy advice to achieve the Government’s reform programme for local government.

**Whiwhinga Mahi | The Opportunity**

The Affordable Water Reforms are a key part of the Local Government Reform Programme. The reforms will establish 10 Water Service Entities and ensure hapū, Iwi/Māori have a voice and influence across the governance, design and service delivery objectives of the Water Services Entities. The Iwi/Māori team lead our engagement with Māori and deliver key policy advice to support this aspect of the reforms.

We are looking for the Executive Director Iwi/Māori, reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Local Government. This is a fixed term/secondment opportunity (with the likely opportunity for further extension). With four direct reports, you will lead a team of around 26 people.

**Mōu Ake | About You**
- A previous track record of successful senior engagement with the public sector, Māori organisations, iwi, and/or private enterprise
- A profound understanding of te ao Māori
- A Comprehensive understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi from a Māori and Crown perspective
- An in-depth understanding of tikanga Māori and the ability to develop and maintain enduring relationships with iwi and Māori organisations that are engaged with the water reform
- Prior experience working with Māori communities, hapu, Iwi and Māori organisations
- Your experience dealing with complex issues with a high level of ambiguity
- Sophisticated collaboration and relationship management skills
- Strong people management and team leadership experience.

Ideally you will have a strong understanding of the progress of the water reforms.
