- Build collaborative relationships to ensure equity and integration

**About the role**:
The **Director of Palliative Care** is a new role created to ensure the alignment of Harbour Hospice’s clinical strategy with the changing palliative needs of our communities. Primarily, you will work to link Te Whatu Ora Health NZ planning with our services, through building local partnerships with iwi, healthcare providers, community services and training and research organisations. You’ll forge regional relationships with Auckland and Northland hospices and ensure our services have a strong equity and integration focus.

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and second in charge to the Chief Executive, you’ll develop insight and knowledge of all aspects of the clinical service to inform and drive strategy. You will be the leader of Medical, Palliative Outcomes Initiative (POI) and Service Improvement teams, responsible for the governance of clinical services, to ensure that the provision of holistic care is aligned to the new regional and locality plans, and the Harbour Hospice strategy.

**About you**:

- An inspiring leader, motivated to grow and develop others
- Outcomes and value focused in driving a culture with people at its heart
- A strategic thinker able to understand and implement process
- Experienced in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and committed to achieving equitable health outcomes for Māori
- A natural collaborator, confident and practiced in change management
- Passionate about evidence-based practice, research and quality improvement

**About us**:
Harbour Hospice is one of the largest hospices in New Zealand and has been caring for patients and their family/whānau for almost 40 years. Every day we care for close to 400 people across the North Shore, Hibiscus Coast and Warkworth/Wellsford regions, supporting them at home, in one of our two inpatient units, or in community programmes offered at each of our three sites.

Our bespoke services, given free of charge, include nursing, medical, social work, counselling, spiritual, cultural, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pharmacist and complementary therapy support. We offer patient, carer, family support and bereavement programmes. We have a well-established service improvement team, a focus on clinical data sharing, a focus on improved outcomes and an evolving research agenda.

Where possible our people work with a hybrid working model in order to facilitate and maximise our service delivery options.

**What’s in it for you?**:
Our people are at the heart of our organisation. Caring, courageous, compassionate and driven to deliver the best care possible, our people are the reason Hospice has the reputation that it does.

There is huge scope to this role. New Zealand’s health system is reforming and it’s a new and evolving landscape. You’ll have the opportunity to drive change within a truly holistic service and will influence at local, regional and national level, how palliative care is provided to communities. As second in charge to the Chief Executive, you’ll become an operational expert as well as continue your clinical practice. You will become a noted and integral thought leader in palliative care in New Zealand.
