Auckland City, New Zealand Transpower Full time

Future-focused critical advisory function supporting our Executives
- Use your outstanding analytical depth, communication, and influencing skills
- Work with the business; develop and deliver plans to achieve strategic outcomes

Transpower is the owner and operator of the National Grid, our transmission network consists of 170 substations, 25,000 transmission towers, and more than 11,000 kilometres of lines across public and privately held land - transporting bulk electricity (up to 220,000 volts) from where it is generated to cities, towns, and some major industrial users.

As System Operator we operate the wholesale electricity market. As part of our role, we ensure supply (provided by generators) matches demand (by electricity users). We are also responsible for ensuring New Zealand's electricity system is reliable, competitive, and innovative and we play an integral role in the planning of New Zealand's electricity future.

The energy industry is changing rapidly to support decarbonisation, and Transpower plays a key role in enabling this change whilst remaining a fit-for-future organisation.

**About the team**

The Strategy & Insights team supports the Executive General Manager Strategy, Regulation & Governance, the Executive Leadership Team, and the broader Transpower business to be well informed of what this change might look like and to position it to identify and take advantage of opportunities.

A relatively small team, the Strategy Team works across the business, engaging with SME's to produce insights on Transpower's operating environment, support the delivery of high-quality analysis, and contribute to the shaping of Transpower's strategy, and the planning and implementation of initiatives by the organisation and its divisions.

**About the opportunity**

You'll play a key role in providing thought leadership within the Strategy & Insights team and across the broader Transpower business. You'll support the Head of Strategy and EGM Strategy, Regulation & Governance by identifying risks and opportunities for the organisation, supported by fact-based insights and analysis.

You'll work across a broad range of topics, including decarbonisation, electrification, social licence, policy changes, and technology development. You'll also represent Transpower to a range of external stakeholders and develop effective relationships and partnerships to ensure the achievement of Transpower's strategic objectives and provide coaching and mentoring to two Strategy Analysts, and support wider strategy capability development across the organisation.

**So, what will you bring?**

Your well-developed verbal and written communication and presentation skills will be underpinned by excellent judgement and the confidence to make recommendations at the right level at the right time. You'll enjoy synthesising information and interpreting and understanding what is important to create useful and impactful reference documents and presentations.

Comfortable influencing and leading working groups within a matrix structure, you'll have experience within the energy or infrastructure sectors and ideally an understanding of the value drivers for electricity network businesses and their implications.

**To be shortlisted, your CV and cover letter will clearly convey**:

- Senior consulting experience working with executive teams.
- Analytical depth, including strong quantitative and qualitative skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning frameworks
- Proven ability to identify, frame, and work on key issues at pace and with agility - short, medium, and long term.
- An understanding of complex, multi-faceted organisations with competing priorities involving both internal and external stakeholders

**Join us at Transpower**

Aotearoa is powered by the people who work here. Every home, every marae, every electric vehicle, every hospital relies on the electricity we manage and deliver. This is your opportunity to join us on a mission that affects all New Zealanders, every day and long into the future.
