Role Overview:
The Manufacturing Services Technician has primary accountability for supporting production operations by maintaining production instrumentation and parts, maintaining supplies, maintain logs, troubleshooting and resolving problems, and helping with special projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain scientific instrumentation including microfluidic and laser based optical components.
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and escalating calls for complex repairs.
- Work closely with lab manager, QC manager and production to help maintain production KPI’s.
- Maintain fluidic supplies by cleaning, sterilizing components as needed. Prepare solutions for cleaning equipment using chemical lab techniques.
- Maintain spare parts inventory by ordering, receiving, and inventorying parts.
- Keep laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books (both computer and paper-based). Uses data to optimize preventive maintenance schedules.
- Resolve problems by examining and evaluating data and selecting corrective steps.
- Complete projects by assisting project team and by attending and participating in group and project meetings.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Enhance laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area in accordance with standard laboratory practices and procedures. Practice safe work habits at all times (chemical safety, lifting, wearing personal protective equipment).
- Periodic weekend maintenance responsibilities (4-6 hours per month).
- Promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Uphold the Genus core values, mission and vision.
- Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours.
- Performs other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
**Requirements**:
**Basic Qualifications: (required)**
- One year of lab or similar technical experience required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Authorized to work in New Zealand
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Two year technical degree in a science-related field preferred.
- Experience in microfluidics, flow cytometry or laser optics a plus.
- Lab environment experience a plus.
- Basic troubleshooting experience a plus.
- Creating a safe and effective production environment experience a plus.
- Sterilization experience a plus.
- Equipment calibration experience a plus.
- Chemical safety experience a plus.
