We are looking for a talented Principal Advisor, experienced in operational policy, business analysis, stakeholder engagement and performance reporting, to name but a few of the core competencies this role requires.

Come join the management team of the national standards body of New Zealand in a varied and critically important role, bringing with it a mix of operational policy, business analysis, stakeholder engagement, business improvement, business development and capability building, performance reporting, influence, collaboration and participation as a member of Standards New Zealand management team. The role also works closely with and provides direct support and advice to the National Manager.
- Operational policy and business analysis advice and services,
- Performance reporting, e.g. management of OIAs, PQs, Ministerial briefings, Coroner enquiries, Corporate reporting etc
- Business improvement and project leadership of organisational development initiatives
- Across business continuous improvement initiatives
- Supporting colleague managers and staff with their non-BAU initiatives
- Supporting the National Manager on a range of issues and fronts
- Stakeholder engagement - internal and external
- Strategy and business planning
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand About the Business

**Standards New Zealand, what we do**: Standards New Zealand is a business unit within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), we are also New Zealand’s internationally recognised and independent national standards body. We manage the development and publication of standards and standards-related products and solutions. We adopt and modify for adoption international standards for the New Zealand market. We also publish and sell New Zealand, joint Australian/New Zealand and international standards.

Our extensive experience, going on ninety-one years, means that our products and services carry a reputation for being trusted, authoritative, accurate and credible. During this time, we have forged and maintained strong working relationships with a wide range of government organisations and industry groups.

Our international connections have ensured that we keep up-to-date with the latest standards innovations, and that we are strongly aligned to international best practice for standards development, with NZ standards being recognised internationally.
As New Zealand’s representative for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and via the National Committee, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), we ensure New Zealand has a voice in the international standards community by participating in international standards development activities, forums, workshops, and meetings.

As a part of MBIE, Standards NZ is well-placed to engage with a wide range of government agencies, providing new opportunities for standards to be adopted as a means for supporting existing and planned government regulations and regulatory reforms.

We have reached a critical point in our history, having just completed a new strategic plan to set us up for the next five years, identified key priorities for the organisation, including Climate Change, Digital Economy, Customer Service and Business Sustainability, and having relatively new senior leadership of the business we are in a phase of change and evolution in how we deliver and improvement our business now and into the future.
