**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have a few 12-month Fellowship roles available in our Newborn Service based at Te Toka Tumai, starting in January 2025. We can also consider an earlier start if mutually agreeable.

This training role is suitable for a Paediatric trainee with aspirations of becoming a Neonatologist or a General Paediatrician with a special interest in Neonatology. You will be involved in the provision of clinical care, teaching, and research, and will have the opportunity to learn and practice echocardiography skills. In this role, you will work closely with a highly skilled and dedicated team of neonatologists, registrars, nursing and allied health staff, managing patients with a wide range of neonatal conditions. You will have a high level of autonomy with supervised on-call work and will be actively involved in the supervision of registrars and other unit activities. Clinical research will be strongly encouraged.

Te Toka Tumai Auckland Hospital has approximately 7000 deliveries per year and provides a wide range of Perinatal and Neonatal services, including Fetal Medicine, Neonatal Surgery, Paediatric Cardiology and Genetics. Our Neonatal Unit is co-located with a large Fetal Medicine/Obstetric Unit and Starship Child Health. The Neonatal Unit is funded for 46 cots overall including 18 Intensive Care cots and two intensive isolation cots. Newborn Services at Te Toka Tumai is an integrated medical and surgical unit. The Newborn Services provide air and road retrieval services for the vast majority of neonatal transfers within the region.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**

Other requirements for the role include:

- Previous experience in newborn intensive care
- Completion of mandatory training in Paediatrics or equivalent
- Must be eligible for General Registration with MCNZ and hold either part 1 of the FRACP or an equivalent postgraduate qualification
