**Newshub**
Newshub is the premiere news brand for Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ. It delivers world-class local and international news aimed primarily at a New Zealand audience across linear broadcast and digital platforms
**General Summary**
The purpose of this role is to help ’AM’ secure fresh, informative and entertaining news interviews for the following day.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Identify stories and content for the show to cover.
- Work cohesively with the Executive Producer, Associate EP, and fellow Set Up Producer.
- Set up interviews for the next day’s shows, including identifying stories, sourcing talent, pre-interviewing and booking guests.
- Ensure show content is vibrant and up-to
- date through story selection.
- Generate fresh interview and story ideas for future programmes.
- Contribute a range of ideas on a daily basis.
- Monitor developing news throughout the day.
- Ensure breaking news coverage plans are in place for the next day’s show and plans are effectively communicated to the AM morning team and wider newsroom.
- Leads collaboration between the programme and the wider newsroom and facilitates effective cooperation on diverse platforms.
- Deliver end to end booking of elements required to produce a segment is completed e.g. camera crews/satellite bookings/make-up etc.
- Complete all production elements for segments - editing b-roll, creating and inputting graphics.
- Write and cut teasers and promos, as required.
- In iNews, build, re-work, and refine the show rundown for the next day, including content and talent details.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining the programme news diary.
- Ensure all details for pre-planned event coverage are in place for the next day’s show.
- Keep the newsroom informed of programme interviews.
- Attend and help facilitate afternoon news planning meetings, with Associate EP, fellow Set Up Producer and relevant news producers.
- Communicate with the producers, presenters and news team regarding changing elements in the show, breaking news etc.
- Update programme’s online and social media platforms as and when required.
- Contribute to the programme’s digital platforms, as required.
- The Employee shall ensure they are familiar with the Employer's health and safety policies and procedures, and any modifications to those policies and procedures that may be introduced from time to time.
- Carry out your work safely and without endangering or causing harm to yourself, fellow staff members, contractors, customers, visitors, or the general public.
- Fill in for the Associate Executive Producer, when required.
- Other duties as required.
**Qualities Required**
- Proven ability to break news stories.
- Proven ability to use Television and/or Radio production.
- Extensive experience as a News and Current Affairs Content Producer or reporter - in either Radio and Television.
- Must have an extensive contact list across a broad range of news rounds.
- Proven strong editorial judgement.
- Good understanding of the requirements of the Broadcasting Act and the laws relating to libel and defamation and the invasion of privacy and other related legal matters.
- Digital and Social Media savvy.
- Proven ability to source and book top talent on big stories.
- Well-developed communication skills both verbal and written technology e.g. Inews/AVID.
- Proven ability to work well in a team and to take direction.
- A generous team member who appreciates individual and business successes.
- Continually seeks opportunities to improve programme content and production.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts and hours if required.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
- Close attention to detail.
- Effective communicator both internally and externally.
- A generator of original ideas.
- Maintains excellent collaborative and professional relationships with the programme team, wider newsroom and broader business.
- A flair for tapping into and recognising “water cooler” or “talkback” topics.
- Prior experience in both Television or Radio broadcast as a reporter or programme producer preferred.
