About us
The National Cyber Security Centre is the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand's cyber defence. We fulfil the cyber security responsibilities of the GCSB and the Government Chief Information Security Officer.

We are looking for an experienced Applications Engineer with a focus on cloud technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure. This role works with architects to design, build and maintain capabilities in support of the National Cyber Security Centre's mission.

Our engineers are at the core of award-winning cyber security technology that recently won awards at the Public Service Commission's Spirit of Service Awards for Service Excellence and the Prime Minister's award, as well as the iSANZ Award for the Best New Zealand Security Product or Service 2022.

About you

**To be successful in this role, you will have**:

- In-depth knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure and its associated services
- Intermediary to Advanced level experience in multiple programming languages, e.g. Python, Java, C, C++
- Experience in setting up, configuring, and managing Azure environments
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, and working in continuous integration environments
- Experience developing software for Linux
- Understanding of cloud security principles and best practices in Azure

Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to develop positive and productive relationships with a range of people, technical or otherwise. You will be pragmatic, understanding of different perspectives and mindful of balancing doing things right with getting things done.
