Customer Engineer, Application Modernization

**Minimum qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with sales engineering.
- Experience with cloud native architectures in a customer-facing or support role, engaging with C-level or executive business leaders.
**Preferred qualifications**:
- Experience with networking concepts including software-defined networking, routing, virtual private networks, load balancers, and firewalls, and logging and monitoring of hybrid-cloud workloads.
- Experience with modern software development life-cycle methodologies and tools including CI/CD, container orchestration, and Day two operations.
- Experience with developing scalable architectures using API management, microservice frameworks, and PaaS.
- Experience and operational proficiency with virtualization deployments.
- Ability to understand a complex customer’s existing software workloads and define a technical migration roadmap to the cloud reflecting specific customer needs.

As a Customer Engineer, your role is that of a technologist who will engage with customer executives, architects, and engineers to understand their business and technical requirements, and craft practical and useful solutions based on Google Cloud and our software partners.

**Responsibilities**:
- Work to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections and develop a strategy to resolve technical blockers.
- Provide enterprise infrastructure/cloud modernization expertise to the market as a thought leader and support the technical relationship with Google’s customers, including product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and partner with product management to prioritize solutions impacting customer adoption to Google Cloud.
- Structure and execute prototyping workshops to prove out proposed new architectures, develop best practices, and document key blocking requirements for prioritization with engineering.
- Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as needed.
