At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

**About our group and team**
**Learning Support is a critical part of Te Pae Aronui. We work with the education sector to ensure that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential. One in five children and young people receive some form of learning support throughout their early learning and schooling education.

The Service Delivery team is part of Learning Support and is focused on turning policy thinking into action and supporting the investment and budget decisions required to make this happen. The team has portfolio responsibilities for a range of evidence-informed initiatives and services that support children and young people to stayed engaged and achieve in education. Service Delivery maintains a national overview of the activities being delivered and provides advice, guidance, and improvements to ensure the delivery of high-quality programmes and services that support inclusion, wellbeing, engagement and learning.

**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**

We have a unique opportunity to be part of a small team working on the Social and Emotional Learning Pilot. We are trialling programmes in early learning services to develop skills in young tamariki across New Zealand, such as self-regulation, resilience, and social skills.

The Senior Advisor will work closely with the Lead Adviser in National Office to develop systems which will support workstreams and regional staff for the implementation of the pilot including planning, reporting, procurement and supporting the external evaluation of the programmes.

To be successful in this challenging and rewarding role, you will need to be well organised and work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders. You will be comfortable communicating your ideas through high-quality written advice, presentations, and face-to-face hui. We will also count on you to take a continuous improvement approach and to constructively challenge existing data, information, systems, and processes.

You will also:

- proactively plan, prioritise responsibilities and deliver results by taking ownership of your work
- help review, shape, frame and design new and existing initiatives and processes
- support the development of inclusive, innovative approaches to meet diverse needs and challenges
- translate policy intent into service and practice design, implementation planning and delivery
