We're seeking a Kaiāwhina towork alongside and support whānau Māori, hapū, and iwi in improving health outcomes for our pēpī, and tamariki. If you are passionate about setting up our rangatira mō āpōpō with the best start possible, why not get paid to do it?

**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
The mahi of our Kaiāwhina supports our Rautaki Māori by directly supporting whānau to work towards pae ora - mauri ora (healthy babies and children), whānau ora (healthy, confident families), and wai ora (healthy environments and connected environments).
This might involve providing advice which is commonly associated with Whānau Āwhina Plunket’s service such as the introduction of solids or supporting breastfeeding for those that chose this path or settling to sleep. The mahi of a Kaiāwhina also provides for whānau cultural needs - supporting whānau to build connections and confidence in their Māoritanga through for instance the introduction of waiata and pūrākau sessions.
Where there is a need Kaiāwhina can work with multiple agencies and specialists - social workers, food banks, other community groups and our wider Whānau Āwhina services to respond to the needs of our people.
- Payrates for Kaiāwhina are between $51,376 ($26 per hour) and $61,058 ($30.90) per hour depending on experience._
**He kōrero mōu | About you**
This role involves supporting whānau who might be at different stages of their haerenga to incorporate Te Ao Māori principles and values into how they raise their tamariki, this might involve introducing Māori models of health or connecting whānau with local iwi providers and services.
You will be a warm people person who adopts a whakawhanaungatanga approach to building connections. A background in health promotion, working in a Kaupapa Māori or kōhanga reo setting would be advantageous however we will provide you with the training you need.
Above all else you will bring with you a desire to support whānau and the community we serve along with the ability to deliver equitable health outcomes and the skills to link caregivers with the appropriate service.
