**About the role and team**:
**We are interested in hearing from all orthopaedic surgeons, but will give preferences to surgeons with an interest and/or sub-specialty in spinal surgery or paediatric surgery**. In addition, you will provide service in general Orthopaedic and trauma surgery. You will partake in the general on-call roster and will contribute to management of trauma and other acute Orthopaedic presentations. Due to the high demand, you will be involved in the provision of primary knee and hip joint replacement services to the Manawatū community. If desired, you could also participate in delivering services in the private sector.

The spine service will be management of trauma, decompression and stabilisation of the spine surgery. You will be part of a regional spinal surgeon network where you will find adequate collegial support.

For the paediatric service you will joint our local paediatric surgeon to expand the service. You will liaise with Starship hospital in the provision of tertiary paediatric services.

You would be one of seven Orthopaedic Specialists. There is also a Medical Officer, 9 Registrars (two are on the national training program) and House Officers.

Applicants must hold FRACS Orthopaedic or equivalent and be eligible for vocational registration in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
