MHAS is responsible for the commissioning and delivery of primary, specialist, and community mental health & addiction services across a diverse urban and rural population of 186,000.

We provide treatment for and connection to recovery-orientated services for individuals experiencing mental illness or addiction issues. Services are delivered across the continuum of lifespan, both regionally and locally, and include specialist community MH&A teams, Kaupapa (Māori), Child Adolescent Mental Health Services, inpatient services, crisis response, acute alternatives, specialist primary mental health service, consultation-liaison MH, and specially designed residential programmes.

Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand leads the day to day running of the health system across New Zealand, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels. It weaves the functions of the 20 former District Health Boards into its regional divisions and district offices, ensuring continuity of services in the health system.

Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua
- MidCentral District provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatū,Horowhenua and Tararua regions. With a large hospital campus at Palmerston North, the health care provider also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities. We are one of the Manawatu's largest employers with over 2800 staff members.
