Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity - Planning
Both our Transport Planning and Environmental Planning teams provide an excellent opportunity for development of your career, with progression available within the teams, or within other teams they work closely with. Exposure to these teams will give you insight into how transport and environmental projects are planned and designed.
Transport Planning
You'll work closely with our Senior and Principal Planners. You'll be part of the team developing business cases through the various phases from confirming the strategic purpose and direction, optioneering and evaluation, to identifying a recommended solution, and including support to the detailed design and consenting phase.

Environmental Planning
You'll be part of a team that gets involved in a range of activities, with a focus on Land Use Developments and third-party approvals. You will also gain exposure to the other work streams, such as district and regional plan reviews and insights into project work.

- A planning qualification (within the last 6 years) and an interest in pursuing a career in planning.
- High attention to detail with good verbal and written communication skills.

- A desire to learn and gain new skills and knowledge.
- Natural curiosity around how things are done and how to make things better.

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
