Media Arts Technician

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Media Arts Technician to this dynamic support role. As part of the technician team aligned to the School of Media Arts, your skills will be utilised to enhance the learning experiences of our ākonga in this vocational tertiary environment.
With no two days the same, you will bring your ‘can-do’ attitude, technical know-how, and excellent problem-solving skills to any situation - whether that be behind-the-scenes, in the classroom, or online. Supporting faculty, ākonga and Wintec’s kaimahi - this role requires someone who is always self-motivated, flexible and adaptable.
**About the Role**
The technician team works together to provide specialist support across a wide range of technical knowledge bases and activities. Working within the School of Media Arts means working with ākonga who are studying contemporary art, creative media communication, digital marketing, music and performing arts, graphic and spatial design.
We’re looking for someone who can confidently bring practical skills and expert problem-solving abilities from their proven industry experience, along with an attitude of continual learning, to ensure a cohesive technician team that is flexible and supports the School of Media Arts.
The technician team operate across technical aspects in our creative school, such as: sound and lighting, studios, film and still cameras, darkroom, laser and vinyl cutting, exhibition hanging, set building and much more. They maintain our equipment and spaces, manage ākonga and kaiako technical requirements and carry out a variety of general duties including events, workshops, maintaining consumable stocks and ensuring that safe working practices are followed.
