As Senior Policy Advisor - Mana Takirua - Enhancing Te Tiriti Relationships, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the Crown's commitments and obligations in Treaty Settlements and Te Tiriti o Waitangi are appropriately recognised, understood and reflected in the development of the legislative frameworks and mechanisms that give effect to the water service reform outcomes and in the establishment of the new water service entities.
Safe, reliable, and affordable drinking water, wastewater and stormwater underpins the health and wellbeing of our communities. Large-scale, once-in-a lifetime reform is needed to ensure Aotearoa's precious water resource is effectively managed and protected today, and for future generations.

The scale of the Water Services Reform means you'll be exposed to challenging, diverse and complex projects. The knowledge and experience you'll gain will have the power to transform your career.
If you have the following skills and experience, we would really like to hear from you:

- A proven track record in policy analysis and development, with extensive experience in taking the lead and managing complex policy projects.
- A sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and how the Crown's commitments impact on policy development and implementation.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Treaty settlement process, its history, outcomes to date and future commitments.
- The ability to work independently on significant or multiple pieces of verbal and written policy advice, providing timely and high-quality responses to ministerial support requests.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including iwi/Māori groups.
- The ability to provide direction and mentorship to less experienced policy advisors on the team.
- Understanding of the machinery of government in the public sector.
