Our Security Group is committed to providing comprehensive security services to New Zealand's Parliament, including its members, staff, contractors, stakeholders, visitors, and customers. We operate within a wider security and intelligence community to ensure an intelligence led approach to security is maintained.

As a Security Lead (Operations), you'll be joining our 24/7 security operations team who play a vital role in ensuring that Parliament remains open, accessible, efficient, and, above all, safe and secure. Our operations team is a diverse, supportive and passionate team who are committed to providing an exceptional security service and customer service. You'll work alongside four other operational leads, who work together to ensure the delivery of a professional and proactive service is achieved.

**Mō te tūnga **| **About the role**:
You'll play a pivotal role in leading the day-to-day operations of our frontline security operations team including our Parliamentary Security Control Room. You'll work with the team to motivate, organise and upskill them to ensure we're consistently delivering a high-quality service to all customers based on our Parliamentary Precincts, as well as the Electorate & Community Offices.

As a Security Lead - Operations, you'll also be leading, mentoring and coaching the Parliamentary Security Officers and the Parliamentary Control Room Operators to ensure standards and capability are always at a very high and professional level. You'll also contribute to the continued development of standard operating procedures and contingency plans, ensuring your team follow these to the highest level.

Your responsibilities include:

- Leading the day to day operations of the frontline security operations team including briefing the team, completing rosters and responding to emergencies
- Ensuring a high quality and proactive security service and customer service is delivered consistently
- Contribute to the continued development of standard operating procedures and contingency plans
- Contribute to the ongoing review of processes, systems and procedures
- Provide leadership and coaching to your team striving for continuous improvement

**Tō kete **| **What you will bring to the role**:

- Experience in a leadership position in a customer-centric environment
- High level of communication skills as you'll need to engage with NZ Police, protest and event organisers and other important stakeholders
- Experience managing and engaging with various stakeholders
- Experience responding to emergencies and managing incidents
- An ability to drive training standards which includes a physical capability test to carry out the requirement of the role
- An ability to be adaptable and make real time decisions on situations that can have a serious impact
- High attention to detail, well organised and calm under pressure

Please note that due to the nature of the work we do, you must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET level National Security Clearance.

This is a full-time permanent position, and the working hours are shift work 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, as per a set rotational roster. There is a 12% shift allowance on top of the base salary.

The appointing salary range for this role is $79,517 to $87,793 per annum. Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for tenure progression).
