Future Network & Planning Manager
- Full-time
- Engagement type: Permanent - Employee
- Department: Network Performance
**About Us**
If you love working with a diverse group of people who are all about putting the customer at the centre and enabling choice, you’ve found the right company. The energy sector is transforming at a rate of knots, and we want you to join us and be part of this transformation. Vector is a proudly Aotearoa-owned company, which operates a range of innovative businesses delivering energy and communication services to more than one million homes and commercial customers across Australasia and the Pacific. These services include electricity and gas connections, solar solutions, high speed fibre, BBQ gas bottles, air and water purification and much more - all of which are transforming the energy sector in one way or another.
Because we live in a world that is changing fast, we must continue to identify and develop better solutions that will provide value, choice and service for our customers throughout New Zealand and beyond, so the environment and communities we love continue to thrive. To do this, Vector has a vision of creating a new energy future, which will help to deliver clean, reliable and affordable energy solutions for customers.
**About the role**
How many roles offer you the sort of job satisfaction you’ll get from playing a central role in creating the future of Auckland’s electricity system, with decarbonisation and sustainable energy solutions front of mind?
Auckland is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. As New Zealand’s largest electricity distribution network, we need to grow our network to be both resilient and smart, to support our thriving city. With so many critical growth projects happening, the future architect of our network is critical to ensure we maintain a safe and reliable continuous supply of power.
Key to this is providing leadership on how to design the network in response to the increase in distributed energy resources such as microgrids, solar PV, electric vehicles and demand management, as well as the impact of sustainability/low carbon initiatives in the future.
You will develop and implement systems, processes, policies and plans to ensure the electricity distribution networks are developed to meet customers’ needs and the Company’s strategic objectives, including network modernisation, under planking, managed integration under customer zones, non-wired solutions and under solutions to support Vector’s Symphony strategy.
**Who we are looking for**
- You’ll have at least a Bachelor’s in engineering (a Master’s or PhD is preferred), with substantial experience in electrical engineering and planning
- You’ll be a great leader who empowers their team and those around them, and can lead and guide through the complexities of their roles
- You’ll be adept at dealing with internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to navigate and communicate complex matters clearly and understandably and to influence outcomes for senior leaders across the business
- You’ll have a natural inclination towards future network and customer behaviour, eager to become the expert in the room on some of the exciting opportunities and challenges in decarbonisation and electrification that are before us.
**What we can offer you**
We love working together to create a new energy future. If you want to be part of an organisation with a real and tangible purpose, Vector could be the place for you.
We offer:
- A fun, flexible and stimulating work environment, full of interesting work being done by smart and innovative people
- Flexibility, including the choice of working from home a couple of days a week, and flexible start and finish times so you can balance work and life
- Health and wellbeing support
- Great benefits that reflect the importance of family
