**Curator - Programmes and Engagement, Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery**

**Permanent, full-time**

Built in 1919, Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery is one of New Zealand's oldest purpose-built galleries.

In the coming months Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery will return to its newly strengthened, refurbished and extended facility at Pukenamu, opening to the public on 9 November. With a stunning building, a unique collection of over 8000 items including artworks and archival material and a dynamic changing exhibition programme it's easy to understand why the Sarjeant is recognised as one of the best regional galleries in New Zealand.

We are looking for a **Curator - Programmes and Engagement** to be part of our expanded curatorial team that delivers a dynamic programme of exhibitions, associated talks and events. The successful applicant will have a proven track record of curating shows for diverse audiences. If you are keen to be part of a curatorial team that makes things happen and believes in the necessity of art and artists then we would love to hear from you.

**About this role**:
In this new role you will report to the Senior Curator & Programmes Manager and contribute to the development of the Sarjeant's curatorial programme with particular focus on exhibitions and projects that foster relationships between artists, mana whenua and other groups. This role is to develop exhibitions for a gallery context but with an emphasis on engaging audiences through the development process in new and innovative ways both in the gallery and out in the community.

**About us**:
Te Whare O Rehua Sarjeant Gallery, as a part of the Whanganui District Council, strives towards the Council's vision to be an energised, united and thriving district offering abundant opportunities for everyone.
