We are more committed than ever to providing proactive, comprehensive care and support to young people. This includes both while they are in our care and after they transition back into the community.
To ensure we can deliver on our commitments, we are searching for passionate and engaged Social Workers in Papaioea/Palmerston North to join our Youth Justice group and support our upcoming work, including our Military Academy style pilot programme.
Our Social Workers are critical in helping to guide and shape our ways of working. They ensure that what we do reflects trauma-informed, therapeutic practice and provides an alternative pathway for youth offenders to help them thrive within their whānau and communities.
Our Youth Justice teams are focused on significantly improving the experience rangatahi have when placed into a care home or youth justice residence and improving their life outcomes. We want our teams to inspire sustained change by providing a therapeutic and mana enhancing experience, that ultimately reduces re-offending.

The wellbeing of tamariki and rangatahi is everyone's responsibility. They deserve to feel safe, have their voices heard, and be surrounded by loving whānau and community. We're looking for qualified, registered, and experienced social workers who want to make a real difference by putting rangatahi at the heart of everything we do.

**Social Worker responsibilities will include**:

- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to contribute to a culture of care within a therapeutic environment that is relational, restorative and inclusive.
- Provide social work services within a statutory residential setting that responds to the needs of rangatahi, and promotes their safety, wellbeing, and supports a reduction in offending.
- Support engagement with whānau throughout the stay of their rangatahi at the residence and support during transition from and back to their whānau and/or community.
- Rostered or variable hours position and you may be required to work periods during the weekend.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring
We are looking for experienced Social Workers who are passionate, caring and focussed on the growth and development of the rangatahi under our care in a residential environment.
You will have a sound knowledge and understanding of all systems that affect day to day care and support of rangatahi in care, and will be open minded about new, exciting and innovative approaches to residential care.
You will be part of a close-knit team enabling us to deliver an exciting and enhanced approach to Youth Justice and community integrated care for our rangatahi. Each team member will play a key role supporting the delivery of this exciting initiative/pilot, a key priority for Oranga Tamariki and the wider Government.

**To be successful in this role you must have**:

- A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence
- A Social Work qualification recognised by New Zealand's Social Worker Registration Board (SWRB)
- Provisional or Full registration with SWRB
