Mō te tīma / About our team
The Employment, Education and Training (EET) Secretariat operates to help agencies coordinate, align, and work together in support of Ministers' direction for a system view across the employment, education, and training sectors, and contribute to better life outcomes for New Zealanders. The EET Secretariat is a cross-agency team comprising staff from the Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and Ministry of Education.
The secretariat is hosted by the Ministry of Social Development, and directly supports a Ministerial group of eight Cabinet Ministers as well as a Chief Executives and Deputy Chief Executives group from multiple government agencies (including Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education Commission, Te Puni Kōkiri and Ministry for Women).

We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent position as a Senior Programme Advisor in the Ministry of Social Development Policy Branch. It will suit someone looking to build on their experience by facilitating agencies to work together in support of EET Ministers' collective priorities and gain increased exposure to government decision makers.
You will juggle responsibilities across a wide variety of areas to provide strategic programme, stakeholder and risk management for the EET Secretariat and priority projects, support the Manager with daily operations of the team, coordinate the cycle of governance meetings and delivery of papers, and oversee the quality control of advice. You will also assist and coordinate responses to requests for advice or information. This is a critical role underpinning the core function of the team, and an opportunity for you to bring your excellent organisational and project management skills to the fore to help achieve EET goals.

**You will be successful in this role if you**:

- have proven experience in project management and working in complex projects
- can maintain respectful relationships through engaging with multiple stakeholders, senior managers, and the Minister's office
- are able to work well under pressure to deliver to timeframes and have experience working collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve high quality outcomes
- have sound knowledge and understanding of government processes and directives, and familiarity with the policy process
- have strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to write reports to a high standard
- have proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and are able to present data and recommendations strategically
- can show good attention to detail
- can anticipate issues needing attention
- enjoy working in a small, mutually supportive team who actively collaborate to solve problems and achieve delivery in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
