This is an exciting time for rail in New Zealand, with a significant investment programme for asset upgrades and new infrastructure throughout the country. We've got some great projects underway and we're looking ahead at long term investment plans for New Zealand's national rail system.

**Te mea angitu kei a tatou: The opportunity we have**

Reporting to the Engineering Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the lifecycle of all the designs in the Engineering Programme that fall under the Level Crossings discipline, financial control and will be accountable for the programme overall. You will prepare, review and approve Level Crossing Safety Assessments and manage stakeholders to develop the future Level Crossing renewal and improvements program. Technical Coordinators report into this position.

**Key Responsibilities include**:

- Develop and manage the Engineering Programme for the Signals Discipline
- Responsible for the lifecycle of all the designs in the Engineering Programme
- Champion the development, delivery, and adoption of strategic changes and improvements within Engineering and Operations
- Direct resources to deliver support for projects and BAU including Approvals, Audit, Technical Advice, Principle & Standards development
- Work collaboratively as a key improvement leader and connector with Engineering, the Professional Heads, Technical Director, Operations GMs and their teams
- Manage So Far as Is Reasonably Practicable (SFAIRP, Risk Assessments and Safety Design)

You will have a Civil or Electrical Degree or equivalent along with 15+ years’ experience in technical project management roles. Railway engineering industry experience is highly regarded.

**In addition you will have**:

- Proven ability to support and engage a diverse set of people to deliver actions
- Good understanding of Engineering, Procurement, Construction, As-built documents
- Experience developing documentation and quality processes
- Experience providing training and guidance to staff
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft products
- Demonstrated ability to deliver work to a high degree of quality and accuracy
- Experience in ISO process and Microsoft Project
