We want to find a strong Senior Advisor, Ministerials to support the delivery of services to the Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence as well as operational services to the Interdepartmental Board for the Elimination of Family Violence and Sexual Violence (Te Puna Aonui).
Our work is challenging as we develop strategic direction and advice to government on family violence and sexual violence from a whole system perspective. We work with a broad range of stakeholders, both within government and in the community in relation to family violence and sexual violence. The role is complex and challenging, with new tests for your critical thinking and relationship management skills every day.
Te Puna Aonui are moving from a phase of Strategy formation to delivery so we are looking for an experienced Senior Advisor Ministerials to join us on this exciting journey.
As a Senior Advisor Ministerials, you will work closely with the Principal Advisor Ministerials and provide Ministerial and official correspondence expertise and oversight, supporting the wider Te Puna Aonui team to deliver responses within required timeframes and to a high-quality standard. The Senior Advisor Ministerials plays a key role in managing the relationship and liaising between Te Puna Aonui and the office of the Government Minister/s or person with responsibility for the family violence and sexual violence portfolio and will provide quality assurance, peer support, and technical advice to colleagues, particularly for complex and sensitive requests. This role also provides onsite support to the Minister's office as needed.

To be successful in the role, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

- Relationship skills. Do you have strong experience in managing relationships at all levels? Are you savvy at managing the nuances of relationships across a wide spectrum of relationships (e.g. community, organisational and Ministerial)? Do you have strong, reciprocal networks that sustain your work? Do you care about helping people and have a strong sense of integrity? - Organisational skills. Can you plan, co-ordinate and keep track in high pressure situations? Can you support others to plan and deliver to our Minister's expectations?
- Excellent communication. Can you ensure that advice and work is clearly and accurately communicated to both internal and external stakeholders
- Problem solving skills. You will be an experienced advisor and a proven problem solver, be comfortable working with complexity and ambiguity, and be comfortable coaching and upskilling your colleagues.
- Proactive. Are you able to proactively look for opportunities for efficiency gains, developing and refining processes that support the work of the Office of the Director and wider business unit?
- Judgement. Can you use your political judgement, knowledge and experiences to anticipate risks and test ideas, analysis and assumptions in others' work?
