Auckland City, New Zealand Plunket Full time

They say it takes a village to raise a child, for many Pacific peoples, aiga, kaiga, magafaoa, kopu tangata, vuvale, famili, (family) is the most valued part of life and central to maintaining a resilient community. We are seeking to grow our Pasifika staff network in the form of a **full-time Health Worker **who will become a treasured member of the extended village for families in the **West Auckland **area.

To better reflect the communities we serve, we are looking to grow our number of Health Workers who are able to utilise Pacific knowledge, ways of being and health frameworks when supporting new parents. Our vision is aligned with supporting intergenerational change and overcoming the health inequities that are prominent in our communities, why not get paid to be a part of that?

**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

You’ll stand at the forefront of this mission, by providing preventative care & proactive support that helps to set pepe up for a successful and healthy life, you will do this in a warm Pacific way, and be the change that each of the individual families need. No judgement, just pure passion and reassurance. We have the rare privilege to be invited in homes and equip families with resources to strengthen or recreate the support networks with grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousins ever present to lend a hand and give advice. While new parents navigate each new developmental leap and milestone, you can be there to proactively improve health outcomes.

Working alongside our Plunket Nurses, Kaiāwhina and wider Plunket services, you’ll be a part of the wrap around support. This is done within a variety of settings to provide education to individuals, whānau and groups in a number of settings.

Please note, the salary is between $51,376 ($26per hour) and $61,058 ($30.90 per hour) depending on experience.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

Service, care and warmth - they’re values that transverse the many islands of the Pacific, and its what makes our people excellent Health Workers. We are looking for individuals who listen with empathy and are committed to being the connector between families and Plunket services.

While prior experience in a Health Promotion setting or related qualification would be advantageous, a passion for working with tamaiti and their caregivers is all you need to bring, we will provide you with the training and support to learn the rest. The ability to speak a second language would also be preferable.

Our mahi relies on seamless teamwork - being able to loop in Nurses for clinical support, referring to our community support services for more holistic care, and reminding our whānau that we're a call away 24/7 through our PlunketLine service - it is vital that you're confident in working independently but also understanding how to work within a team environment.

Prior experience in working in partnership with vulnerable families from a variety of backgrounds in a supportive and caring manner will be advantageous. In supporting our pro-equity journey, its vital you have an understanding and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi or are able to demonstrate an understanding of what it looks like to support whānau Māori to thrive.
