**About the role**

We have a great opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the Corporate Finance Manager, this role is primarily responsible for the South Island Joint Venture Comspec business, taking ownership of the account’s functions, particularly around invoicing, purchasing, month-end processes and deadlines.

**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Review and implement processes and procedures, including robust internal controls.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end recording and reporting, including standardisation improvements, entering staff timecards and stock counts.
- Data manipulation from customers to complete invoicing.
- Recording of transactions, including purchase order raising, accounts payable and journal preparation.
- General Ledger and bank reconciliation preparation and investigation.
- General office management tasks such as stationery and staff purchasing.
- Preparation of export documentation and freight arrangements for overseas sales.
- Assist with Joint Venture external reporting, audit assistance, and annual tasks.
- Support Operations Managers, Commercial Managers, and Finance Managers, and liaise with visitors on the site.

**About you**

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

- A minimum of five years’ work experience, ideally in a large complex organisation with tight month-end deadlines.
- Good technology, data modelling and analysis skills.
- Ability to collate and analyse data from multiple sources and systems.
- Good time management and commercial skills.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to communicate with operational staff and site visitors.
- Team player but equally comfortable working autonomously.
- Knowledge of the construction, logistics, recycling or waste industries would be an advantage.
- Interest in learning new systems and processes.
