We are seeking a skilled **Senior Editor** to manage the writing, editing and production of the University’s flagship publications and other digital and print content. Reporting to the Media Manager, this role will take lead responsibility for showcasing the achievements, successes, activities and positive impact of the University via a range of high-quality publications.

The role will also work as part of a team to create opportunities for delivering compelling digital content via new multimedia formats, social media and publishing platforms such as Shorthand. To be successful in this role, you will need to display sound editorial judgement and decision-making ability to identify and develop content that tells a compelling story about the University and its people. You will have the confidence and authority to build strong and mutually respectful working relationships with academic and professional staff members across the University.

This is a **full-time** (37.5 hours per week), **permanent** opportunity.
The remuneration for this role is $80,900 - $109,400 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.

**Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team**

The Communications Office, part of the wider Communications and Engagement Division, is a dynamic and close-knit team working in the four broad areas of media engagement, staff communications, research communications and corporate communications. The Senior Publications Editor works closely with all four areas.

Our primary role is to build and protect the reputation of the University and its people by:

- Showcasing achievements, successes and positive impact on the communities we serve.
- Fostering the University’s role as ‘critic and conscience of society’ through debate, opinion and thought leadership on issues that are relevant to society.
- Ensuring what is said about the University in the wider world is fair, balanced and accurate.
- Managing issues and crisis communications proactively and sensitively.
- Driving internal communications to ensure staff and other internal stakeholders are informed and engaged.

You will be a skilled senior editor with strong proven experience in writing, editing, subediting, and publishing, either in the news media or leading the in-house publishing programme of a large organisation, ideally both.-
