An exciting opportunity to contribute to important and meaningful mahi, and support an impactful mandate of work.
This is a newly established role in the Engagement & Liaison team within the Cyclone Recovery Unit. Working with a high performing team alongside other communications and engagement specialist, the Senior Advisor, Regional Liaison is responsible for leading the regional engagement for this impacted region,by creating strong partnerships, pathways and enduring relationships.
The role will primarily focus on leading regional community engagement, including engagement with iwi and Māori groups, business, local government, NGO's, regional groups to support the needs of ongoing recovery from the flooding, and Cyclones Hale and Gabrielle. The approach for the recovery will focus on being locally led and centrally supported.
The Cyclone Recovery team is predominately based in Wellington; however, this role will be carried out by someone who is based in Auckland and has regional connections on the ground.
DPMC encourages a flexible by default working style, meaning a positive work life balance is encouraged. We are looking to appoint in the range of $100,000 - $125,000 p/a (including Kiwisaver contributions), and according to relevant experience level.

To be successful in this role you will be comfortable working in the following style:

- Self-starter with the ability to demonstrate initiative, to prioritise effectively, to take action to clear obstacles and to find solutions

- Experience working and engaging with iwi and Māori community representatives at a range of levels.
- Senior experience delivering communications and engagement strategies.
- Experience in building relationships with local government, businesses, and regional groups essential.

Our Purpose - Ā Mātou Kaupapa
The Cyclone Recovery Unit (CRU) is hosted by the Department of the Prime Minister & Cabinet (DPMC).
The approach to the ongoing recovery from the flooding, and Cyclones Hale and Gabrielle will focus on being locally led and centrally supported. The CRU has been established to support the Chief Executive to lead and coordinate the Government's recovery work programme, provide strategic policy and legal advice, support locally led engagement with communities, iwi, business, local government, regional groups and others, coordinate planning and reporting, provide advice on system risk and assurance, ensure alignment with wider policy decisions on long-term resilience, climate change and managed retreat, and provide the secretariat function for the Cyclone Recovery Taskforce.
