**Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role**:
We are seeking a media and social media coordinator to join Fire and Emergency New Zealand’s National Communications and Engagement Directorate. The role sits within the National Media Team responsible to the Manager, Media.

This is a great opportunity to learn about and support managing media requests and social media in a busy, supportive team on a range of proactive and reactive projects.

This role would assist with general media enquiries, draft press releases and other collateral when required.,

We manage a number of national social media channels and support our leaders, national operational groups, volunteer fire brigades and fire stations to manage their own social media accounts appropriately and safely.

This role would include supporting our social media advisor to plan, create, and deliver social media content across multiple channels. It would also involve analysing, measuring and reporting on social media and media engagement.

The coordinator would be expected to manage an effective workflow, content planning processes and integrated content calendars.

You would provide administrative and planning support to the Manager, Media and the team as required.

Essential:

- Ability to convey information and ideas clearly, accurately and creatively, in a way that meets the needs of the audience
- Sound social media understanding and delivery skills
- Demonstrated ability to create innovative and engaging social posts
- Strong and accurate writing skills, ideally demonstrated across a range of channels
- A self-starter and team player, innovative and resilient
- Experience building close and trusting working relationships with business units and colleagues
- Demonstrated strategic approach to problem
- solving, prioritisation and issues management.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay calm under pressure

Desirable:

- Relevant tertiary qualification in communications or related field.
- Government agency social media experience
- Experience in external media and communications disciplines
- Experience creating shareworthy content for a range of channels, including proficiency in photography and video creation.
