A very rare and exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and inspiring educator to join the team at _Rotorua Museum - Te Whare Taonga o Te Arawa_. We are looking for that special multi-talented person with a unique combination of skills to help us create exceptional learning experiences. This leadership role includes managing all aspects the education service in accordance with the museum's Learning Experiences Outside the Classroom contract with the Ministry of Education.

**In this role you will**:

- Education Vision and Strategy - Work collaboratively to develop a Museum education strategy, and associated programmes, that meets the needs of all learners
- School Education - Develop and deliver a high quality curriculum linked education service that meets the conditions of the current Enhancing Local Curriculum (ELC) contract
- Other Programmes - Develop and deliver a range of education programmes, aligned to the Museum strategy and visitor experiences, for all learners, from pre-school to third age
- Education Administration - Complete and deliver all statistical and reporting information to the required quality on time
- Exhibition Input - Contribute to the development of wider museum initiatives, including exhibition development and aligned education programmes, through co-operative planning and support
- Educational Leadership - Provide expertise, guidance and learning opportunities for all members of the education team, and wider Museum team
- Evaluation - Ensure regular and robust evaluation of services and programmes against agreed KPIs and wider wellbeing outcomes
- Budget Management - Effectively manage all aspects of the education budget
- Legislation - Is responsible and accountable for compliance with RLC Safety and Wellbeing policies and the Children's Act (2014)
- Build and sustain strong professional links with teachers, schools, iwi, other education organisations, suppliers and relevant industry partners
- Wider Museum Strategy - Contribute to development and delivery of the wider Museum strategy and plans

**Ideally you will be able to demonstrate that you**:

- Proven ability to provide visionary leadership and inspire excellence in a motivated team
- Experience in leading education related strategy development and service delivery
- Demonstrated track record of being a high performer who consistently delivers agreed performance outcomes
- Excellent written skills are essential for regular reports, milestones, statistics and programme evaluation
- Effective verbal skills are necessary for the ability to present concepts and interpret museum objects and taonga to students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities
- The ability to create and deliver education programmes aligned to the New Zealand Curriculum and also online
- The capability to manage all aspects of a budget
- The ability to plan with both the New Zealand Curriculum and newly introduced draft Aotearoa Histories Curriculum
- An understanding and appreciation of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
