We have a number of exciting opportunities to join the Security Vetting Unit to lead, manage and develop Wellington based vetting teams.

In this position you will be responsible, at the operational level, for leading, managing and developing your team to ensure the secure, efficient delivery of high quality national security clearance recommendations to New Zealand Government agencies.

You will have proven leadership experience, ideally in leading operational teams. In addition, you will be a confident communicator with demonstrated planning experience and provision of operational risk management and guidance. Your leadership will inspire others to challenge their views and welcome opportunities for change. Experience in security vetting or personnel security is desirable but not necessary.

The following experience and attributes are key to success in this role:
A successful background leading and managing people.
Proven experience coaching, mentoring and developing others and building high performing teams.
Demonstrated planning experience and provision of operational risk management and guidance.
A continuous improvement and customer experience focus.
Demonstrated analytical capabilities, sound judgement and decision making.
Proven experience in building and maintaining positive and productive work relationships.

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
