Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
As our Information Technology Security Manager, you will provide IT security leadership and technical security guidance across MPI. You will be a principal information security expert within our organisation and provide advice, coaching, and assurance leadership to ensure MPI has a safe and secure digital environment.
You will work in collaboration with our Chief Information Security Officer, to connect their strategic directions with the technical efforts of our Business Technology & Information Services directorate and the wider business.

**The key accountabilities of this position include**:

- Providing leadership and coaching to information security teams
- Implementing robust processes for communication, engagement, education, and performance monitoring
- Ensuring a safe and secure IT environment for MPI by providing expert advice and regular assurance monitoring and reporting
- Driving improvement and informing leadership of threats, vulnerabilities, and information security issues or risks
- Ensuring security risk management plans (SRMPs), systems security plans (SecPlan), and any standard operating procedures (SOPs) are developed, maintained, updated, and implemented
- Contributing to MPI's information security strategy and vision
- Ensuring that System and Business Owners obtain and maintain the certification and accreditation of their systems & identifying systems that require information security measures and help with selecting the right security measures
- Leading MPI's information security incident responses ensuring that MPI's information security incident management plans, and detect & respond processes, are effective
- Facilitate a ‘security aware culture' through the provision of information security awareness and education programmes

Mōu - About You
To be successful in this role, you will have substantial strategic and intellectual leadership experience in information technology security as well as strong technical skills within digital environments. You will possess strong interpersonal and negotiating skills, negotiating the complex challenges between business and technical desires and security requirements. You will be agile, adaptable, and quick to pick things up, with a can-do attitude. You will also be a team player, strong on systems and process thinking but pragmatic and able to deal with ambiguity.
You experience will include;
- An in-depth knowledge of NZ government security standards, including the PSR and NZISM,
- Significant experience with audit and/or certification and accreditation processes,
- Security risk identification management and experience in delivery of assurance services,
- Familiarity of a wide variety of information management tools and digital technologies,
- Developing and implementing policy processes, systems, and solutions within large and complex organisations,
- Analysing technical issues and making recommendations to business decision makers with consideration for business and financial impacts,
- A demonstrated ability to act as a coach and mentor for other staff

This role is strongly stakeholder focused so you will be someone with strong verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to think innovatively about communicating information to customers, and the ability to build collaborative working relationships at all levels.
