**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under te Tiriti o Waitangi | the Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.
We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.
The Principal Advisor, Commissioning Business Services sits within a team which oversees the development and management of all Board, Committee and Ministerial reports and briefings including Official Information Act requests (OIAs) and Parliamentary Questions (PQs). The team also works closely across national and regional offices to ensure consistent systems and practices across the business. The team's overall objective is to providing high quality and timely advice for the governance and ministerial servicing function of commissioning.
The Principal Advisor is responsible for providing high quality information and advice in support of the work programmes in commissioning. The Principal Advisor acts as the main conduit between Commissioning and key personnel in the Office of the Chief Executive, liaising directly on Ministerial briefings and communications.
**This role is based in the Te Manawa Taki Region made up of Waikato, Lakes, Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti and Taranaki. You will need to be based in the region. Your location can be discussed at interview stage.**

- A tertiary qualification
- Senior experience of more than 5-10 years in governance and Ministerial servicing roles including:
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences.
- Experience in the development and presentation of well-articulated, unambiguous, and robust advice, papers, and reports.
- A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and system-level decision making.
- Previous experience working in government and a thorough understanding of the machinery of Government.
- Experience in developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships internally and externally, across various groups, including at a senior level.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups and at a senior level.
- Demonstrates a proven commitment to, and ability of, working in self-directed teams, and as part of a wider Team of Teams to achieve group/team objectives and outcomes.
- The ability to communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication, in a range of formats, to various audiences including senior management, Board and Ministers.
- Experience navigating and operating within the machinery of government or in a regulated environment.
